residential camp experience for Oswego County children aged 8-13 years
old who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
How to apply to attend Camp Rainbow of Hope
Parents/Guardians of children aged 8-13 who have experienced the loss of
a loved one, and would like their child to attend should complete a
Camp Rainbow Camper Application
or contact the Friends of Hospice at 343-5223 to request an application
mailed to you.
All
applications will be reviewed and parents of eligible children will be
notified by a phone call. No child is discriminated against for the
purpose of admission to Camp Rainbow of Hope based upon his/her race,
color, creed, national origin, age, or sex.
There is no charge for camp
Rainbow of Hope thanks to the generous support of the Friends of
Oswego County Hospice and the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau/Parks &
Recreation.
How to volunteer for Camp Rainbow of Hope
Each camper is teamed up with a
teenage “Big Buddy” who is with them throughout the program. If you are
15 or older you can apply to be a big buddy.
Adult facilitators guide children
through the program. Adult staff will be comfortable with death and
dying issues and will have received training on bereavement issues.
Volunteers are also needed to help in
the kitchen with food preparation and clean up.
